Competitions
Check with Shelley on any additional discussions with WWU - do we want to set a date (or two) with WWU for fall? Shelley spoke with WWU here is the breakdown:
For the weekend (3 days) cost is $1500, for one day cost is $750 – stalls are not included, they are extra. Does include use of all 3 rings. Price can be reduced if WWU students can ride in the show. Cost could possibly be reduced if we combine our show with the Management class.
Possible dates Shelley will discuss with WWU: Sept 19, Oct 10 or 24.
Marian spoke with Sarah for possible show at Stephens college – Sarah needs a date before she can give an estimate.
Consideration to be back at Amulette next spring to have two venue options for shows? Members agree to still have a show at Amulette, cost is $580.
Education
Jumping
1) Jeannine Lamb - from Chicago (Marian Michalson’s trainer), has come to area several times in past via Marian and filled easily and enjoyed by participants. Riders don’t have to jump; Jeannine provides flat lessons as well. Ben or Marian to work with education committee to schedule, we want to get this one done soon per Marian-ask Jeannine is she could come in June.
2) Julie Wolfert - Alison to coordinate with Julie on possible date (historically July is availability) and report back to education committee, education committee to schedule with Amulette.
Dressage
1) Jamie Lawrence Slocum - Stacy B to work with education committee on fall date – Oct. 17 & 18
2) Wick has reached out to Alison for possible fall clinic, will want to get scheduled asap! Alison to propose dates from Wick to education committee to book.
Nancy Gorten at Pine Hill in KC, Lauren spoke with her. Cost is $100/ride and she works with the young rider program. This could help boost our small young-rider membership.
Riding/Driving Clinic
Parveti Wood - At last meeting, Lisa Morrissey mentioned the riding/driving trainer who has taught clinics in the area and is well received. Parveti Wood is the trainer (from Columbus OH) and cost is $600/day. Lisa would host, preferably, a fall date. Education committee to contact Parveti to get dates/schedule.
Special Events
Additional Dressage Clinics: Lauren & Karen are hosting dressage clinics with their respective coaches semi-regularly. These clinics have been added to calendar and list in the newsletter. Auditing is welcome (and free) for these clinics.
Pool Party Meeting: Karen mentioned interest in having another CDCTA get together/pool party - would we like to get this on the calendar? July or August TBD
JJ Tate Symposium: KCDS is hosting JJ Tate, Aug 15 & 16. Is there any interest in applying to ride or audit?
Other Business
Liz Hotchkiss Memorial Fund – do we want to see about awarding a second scholarship for the year? perhaps one ride in the Wick clinic? Unsure if this would require bylaw change or if this is something we can vote to approve.
